Audi has unveiled the new Q9, its largest and most luxurious SUV to date, as the brand moves further into the full-size premium SUV market. The seven-seat model becomes the new flagship of the Audi range, introducing a higher level of space, technology and refinement.
Measuring 5.31 metres long, the Q9 is larger than any previous Audi SUV and is designed to compete with the likes of the Range Rover and BMW X7. The cabin focuses heavily on comfort, with an optional six-seat layout featuring individual electrically adjustable second-row seats, automatic doors and Audi’s largest panoramic sunroof ever fitted.
Technology is a major focus, with the Q9 featuring new curved digital OLED rear lights, advanced Matrix LED headlights and a wide range of driver assistance systems. Inside, passengers get Audi’s latest infotainment system with a panoramic OLED display, a passenger screen and an optional Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system with 22 speakers and 1,360 watts of power.
At launch in the UK, the Q9 will be offered with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing 299PS and 630Nm of torque. The engine is paired with Audi’s MHEV plus mild-hybrid technology, an eight-speed automatic gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive. Adaptive air suspension and optional all-wheel steering are designed to combine comfort with improved handling despite the SUV’s size.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner described the Q9 as the brand’s new flagship, saying it represents the company’s move towards cars becoming “mobile living spaces” rather than simply transport. The Q9 will open for orders at the end of August 2026, with first UK deliveries expected before the end of the year.
